There are three courses of study in the series:

1.1 Servant Leadership–Principles: Exploring The Journey

The purpose of this first course in the series is to lay the groundwork for the journey of servant leadership–both the history/scope of servant leadership as a new discipline, and the fundamental definitions and understandings that will frame your own personal leadership journey as a “servant first.”

In this course you will: see, feel and identify the basic principles of servant leadership; experience the contribution of others–particularly Robert Greenleaf–to this concept; assess your current leadership practice; and apply servant leadership to your life and your map for the future.

1.2 Servant Leadership–Pathways: Following Biblical Patterns

Course objective: Challenging Christians today to become more effective and enriched leaders by choosing to follow the pathway of biblical patterns toward servant leadership. This course grows from the premise that the tenets of servant leadership follow the pathway already set out by Christ, the ideal servant leader.

Listening to those biblical patterns teaches us: that God chose to use a great variety of leadership styles, that biblical guidance is practical today, that spiritual gifts are for service to others, and that practicing true servant leadership develops more servant leaders!

1.3 Servant Leadership–Practices: Charting Your Course

Course objective: To present and apply contemporary models, styles, and habits of leadership that will help you chart your course in the practice of servant leadership. You will supplement your understanding of servant leadership with the strategies of models including:

• Situational Leadership
• Coaching Leadership
• Transformation Leadership
• Mission-Centered Leadership

Developing and practicing servant leadership is self-directed by continuous choices to follow the pattern of Christ.
